Michael Bonocore is an internationally published travel photographer and filmmaker based in Boise, Idaho. His work has been featured in tourism campaigns and magazines worldwide, including the ultimate photographer’s dream of having a full two-page photo spread in National Geographic. When he’s not writing, he can be found leading photography workshops with The Giving Lens, an organization that aims to teach creative arts to underprivileged children around the world. His adventures have taken him to more than 30 countries to date, with some of his favorites being Cuba, Morocco, Peru, Jordan, Namibia and Uganda.
Ryan Mense is a wildlife cameraperson passionate about sharing visual stories of birds and their ecology through filmmaking and photography. He’s the guy driving under the speed limit in front of you, binoculars in his lap, head whipping every which direction in search of new avifauna. As a writer, he has been covering photo industry news and producing camera gear reviews for the last decade.
Phil Mistry started one of the first digital camera workshops in New York City in the 1990s at The International Center of Photography. He has an MA and MFA in photography from the St. Univ. of NY. He set up the digital photography dept of B&H Photo in the mid-90s. At Popular Photography magazine, he was the director and teacher for Digital Days Workshops in collaboration with Sony. Illya Ovchar is a fashion photographer based in Budapest. For him, photography means painting with light, just as its Greek roots suggest. He can’t tell you the latest camera rumors, but he can go on forever about light. In his fashion work, Illya aims to tell stories with clothes and light.
Sharky, as he’s known by friends, family, and his audience, is an award-winning newspaper photographer (retired) who lives in beautiful Utah with his wife and kids. He’s a former editor/publisher of a parenting magazine and his photographs have been published in Reader’s Digest, TIME for Kids and many other publications. He believes there’s something to learn from everyone and enjoys sharing his knowledge of photography through his varied experience as a photojournalist.
